‘We are proud to have the only aluminium matting products on the market with Greenspec Accreditation, with a minimum of 80% total recycled content across the whole range.’

Aluminium – The Green metal

The global Aluminium Industry has an excellent record on the rehabilitation of land after bauxite mining. A recent survey showed that 89% of post-mining land in Northern Australia was restored to native forest and the remainder to commercial forest, agriculture and pasture.

  • Approximately 40% of Primary Aluminium (total worldwide production – approximately 40 million tonnes) is produced using clean, renewable hydro-electric power.
  • Climate change is a top priority issue for the global Aluminium Industry.
  • There was a 14% reduction in total direct greenhouse gas emissions from the worldwide production processes of Primary Aluminium between 2000 and 2005, despite a 20% growth in Primary Aluminium production.
  • Recycling is the ‘cornerstone’ of Aluminium’s Sustainability.
  • Aluminium recycling reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 95%, compared to Primary aluminium production.
  • It only takes 5% of the energy required to produce Primary Aluminium to recycle it.
  • Aluminium is an ‘energy bank’ – most of the original input can be recovered every time the aluminium product is recycled.
  • Aluminium can be recycled to infinity without any loss of quality or properties.
  • Over 70% of the Aluminium ever produced worldwide is still in use today – 450 million tonnes.
  • Recycling of Aluminium scrap in UK and Europe saves about 90 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions annually, equivalent to the annual emissions from 15 million cars.

Our UK aluminium supplier sources 90% of its stock from recycled material and continues to increase this % year on year.

Here at Entrance Matting Systems Ltd, we source suppliers who recognise the importance of minimising the impacts of consumption and manufacturing on our environment. We promise to deliver environmentally friendly and sustainable products at competitive prices without compromising on quality and performance.

Our top 4 product infill material with regards to sustainability as follows:

  1. DC004: 100% natural coconut fibres. Made from the middle layer of the coconut shell. Taken from the fruit of the tree and therefore not affecting the tree itself. Coir infill material undergoes very little processes; wet-milling, drying, twisting and pressing. No chemicals used or energy consuming processes.
  2. DC008 (black) rubber: 100% recycled natural rubber, made from recycled tyres. It is extremely hard wearing, minimising replacement costs.
  3. Tretford: Ribbed goat hair fibres with the highest environmental standard and lowest possible pollution emissions. By product of cashmere clothing trade, sustainably sourced and manufactured as well as being BRE.
  4. LU section 12: Natural and halogen-free rubber. Made from a rapidly renewable raw material. Hevea Brasiliensis rubber trees live for 30 years and continuously produce latex during the whole of their life cycle. Ethically sourced from well managed rubber plantations, adding to the country’s economy and benefits the local communities.
